Resume
As a design professional my work has included projects that required me to function as illustrator, designer, copywriter, photographer, art director, creative director, and design supervisor. Often the scope of an assignment made it necessary to juggle and/or combine more than one of these skills sets or titles.
My career as an art and design educator spanned 35 years at two major universities. I was able to collaborate with many talented and memorable individuals throughout this experience. Ideas of substance and relevance were central to all of these experiences. While technique and dexterity of execution is important, conceptual content is valued above all else. As an educator my essential role evolved to be "the one who offers an opinion."
An artist by other names
My mother called me Bobby. For years friends, students and colleagues referred to me as Bob Fields. In Viet Nam my buddies called me flash. In college I often answered to Bo. My checking signature is usually Robert Fields. Used my full name on my web site. Bob Fields and Robert Fields were already gone. When I sign my paintings I often use RJF. When we meet I may use any of the above.
